Nestled in Kennebunkport’s quiet historic district along-side other former sea captain homes, the Inn is meticulously maintained, surrounded by beautifully manicured lawns, has an English Style Garden, and for the guest, just a quick stroll to ‘Dock Square,’ Kennebunkport’s town center.

Your stay includes a 3 course breakfast each morning along with unlimited snacks and nonalcoholic beverages through the afternoon. Kennebunkport Maine has been attracting visitors since the mid-19th century when vacationers arrived by railcar or horse drawn carriage to enjoy this ocean-side fishing village. Even before it was made internationally famous by our most prominent residents President George HW Bush and the former First Lady Barbara Bush, Kennebunkport was home to writers and artists such as Kenneth Roberts, Abbott Graves and Booth Tarkington, it was also home to titans of 20 century industry as they quietly made Kennebunkport their summer residence.
Today, artist, celebrities and people of all means, affluence and nationalities continue to visit Kennebunkport enjoying our sandy beaches, relaxed atmosphere and village style living.
The Inn’s History
The Captain Jefferds Inn was originally built in 1804 by Daniel Walker where upon completion; it was given as a wedding present to his daughter Mary and her new husband Captain William Jefferds in 1805.
In September of 1996 the inn was purchased by the Bartholomew family, who successfully ran it as a bed and breakfast for 9 years.
Erik and Sarah Lindblom purchased the inn from the Bartholomeuw’s 9 years later and completely renovated the Inn, updating the décor, linens and bedding as well as adding modern amenities such as; gas fireplaces, air conditioning, and wifi.
The Captain Jefferds Inn now has 16 uniquely appointed and individually decorated rooms and suites from which to choose. All the rooms have a private bath.
Guest Rooms
Chatham
A beautiful room located on the first floor in the oldest part of the main house and perfect for those who wish to avoid stairs. Decorated with green and off-white décor, this room also has ten foot high ceilings, wainscoting and beautifully preserved hardwood floors.
It has a queen size, four-poster bed, gas fireplace, two wing-back chairs, a flat screen TV, and full tiled bathroom with tub/shower combination
Baxter
Inspired by the old Maine camps, this room has a one of a kind custom made king size wooden bed, gas fireplace, two arm chairs, terra-cotta tiled bath with shower, a large two-person whirlpool tub, a flat screen TV, and a refrigerator.
This is a very romantic room with its own entrance and private screened porch.
Montpelier
Montpelier, formally know as Monticello with our past guests, is on the second floor of the main house. It is a large corner room decorated in colonial blue and white featuring a king size bed, two wing-backed chairs, a writing desk, a gas fireplace (seasonal), a flat screen television. Montpelier has a small bathroom with a tiled shower
Wiscasset
Formally “Assisi” now named after what is fondly known as the prettiest village in Maine. Wiscasset is a large room located on the west-side third floor of the main house.
Bright and sunny in the afternoon, it has a king size Verdigris Iron Bed, a lovely sitting area with a seasonal gas fireplace, a winged back chair, and love seat. It also has a private indoor garden with philodendrons, begonias, dieffenbachia, and a water feature. The large bathroom has a pedestal sink and features an Italian tile shower with dual shower heads.
